Online Personal Ads - What has been your experience?
Traditionally a personal ad or a classified ad was seen in the newspaper, magazines. Today, these ads can be seen on e-newspaper, e-magazine, or just any other internet mode of advertising. The World Wide Web has also become to be known as a common medium for matching people to resources. Online Personal ads are a form of classified ads of a personal nature and usually include a basic description of the person posting it, their interests, and contact information if the advertiser wishes to do so. There are generally no pictures / animations / graphics in an online personal ad, however, some people might use a logo to describe them best.
Why online? An ad published in the newspaper is based on number of words, characters or lines. They are often filled with abbreviated words to save on cost. The cost can be high as compared to online personal ads if expanded words are used. Also, it is found that the recall value of online ads is greater than the print mode of advertising. Online Personal ads have also opened an opportunity for people across the world to communicate / meet and get to know more about each other.
Many free classified sites, cater to various personal ads like Singles, dating, casual, etc. These sites have come a long way to provide a platform for those who are interested in meeting people online. It might sound repetitive, however it is almost coming to be true that Internet has made people come closer. In choosing one online personals provider over others, a user will be deciding on his / her online dating experience. The experience a person has while advertising on or looking at a personal ad depends upon the kind of site a person selects that matches his / her lifestyle and the type of relationship that he / she is looking for. There are some online personal services which provide matchmaking and long term relationships while others provide opportunities for dating and fun.
Some of the benefits of online personal ads for bride / groom is that many matrimonial sites provide "Mutual Interest" feature, where the potential bride / groom and vice versa can rate their level of interest / compatibility with each other. Members can also be automatically notified if an interest is shown. How to go about it? Free internet dating / match making sites will require setting-up of an account, filling out a profile and submitting a picture to their site. After screening, the profile will be live and the user can start receiving communication from matches that fit their profile. The user can control, the communication that is visible on the profile vs. what is sent to others.
So next time while placing or screening a personal ad be sure of your objective.
